haha word spreads among trading partners, and John and Rodney don't even realize it, they just think it's weird that no one in Pegasus ever gets within 5 feet of them or shakes hands. "Must be a Wraith thing," they say wisely, and report it to the anthropologists.
If they bring it up to Teyla or Ronon, they immediately occupy themselves. Ronon will shovel food into his mouth, and Teyla will introduce a new topic of conversation with no segue. Clearly they're right and it's a Wraith thing, or their teammates would be concerned too.
(Really, they just hate it when Rodney sulks and John withdraws when either of them are hit on or the recipient of friendly flirting).
I can just see the poor, unsuspecting anthropologists when those two walk in with that theory. There would be one in the background mopping up spilled not-coffee after doing a spit-take while the one they're talking to gets glassy-eyed and red-faced. Later, Rodney would tell John she was probably overcome with the joy of pseudoscientific discovery (or at least empirical data). The anthropologists, of course, would take this opportunity to update the odds on the various betting pools they have going. =D
Laughing so hard because this would totally happen. It brings to mind the story (on AO3, Explicit rating) Why would he do that? by velocitygrass where Ronon finally has enough of their obliviousness and strands them on a planet together. With just one sleeping bag. =)
I admit I love stories where Teyla and Ronon are like ENOUGH and force the boys to actually communicate. Or have sex, whichever option will work *grins*
Rodney's not all that great with expressing emotion either, really. Remember when he not!proposed to Katie? And stumbling over his words with Allina...
Oh, yes, it's acutely painful, even if I do love writing Rodney babble. Of course, the thing I always want most is for them to figure out how to get out of their own way and ultimately work things out.

How funny would it be if John & Rodney got a ~reputation in the galaxy? "Don't touch either of them. They're CRAZY."
